The total land area is 8 square kilometers, 58 kilometers from Madras situated exactly to the mean sea level. Tamilnadu which has in the southern part of India, which is the last of all states in the topography of India, has many beautiful places to watch. There are many beautiful sceneries, ancient monuments, historic temples for their unique sculptures, the culture and tradition of the natives and so on. There are lots of other things to be spoken as well. One such place to be watched, toward and enjoyed is mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram lies on the Coromandel Coast which faces the Bay of Bengal. This is an elegant place to watch which a well established sea port was during the 7th and 10th centuries of the Pallava dynasty. This was the second capital of the Pallava who ruled Kanchipuram. Formerly, mahabalipuram was known and called as Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram art can be divided into four categories open air base - relief, structured temples, man-made caves and rathas. The famous Arjuna's Penance and the Krishna Mandapams, adorn massive rocks near the centre of the village. The beautiful Shore Temple towers over the waves, behind a protective breakwater. Sixteen man-made caves in different stages of completion are also seen, scattered through the area. There are three temples of which two were Shiva Temples. There are two low hills in Mahabalipuram from the sea whose both sides have 11 excavated temples, called Mandapams. Out of a big rock standing free nearby there is a cut out temple, called a Rathas. Out of the other hill, much smaller and standing are fashioned five more rathas, and three big sculptures of a Nandi, a Loin and an Elephant. On the top of the bigger hill there is a structural temple. The five Rathas include Dharma raja, Bhīma, Arjuna, Draupadi and Sahadeva. In front of each rathas there is a sculpture of an animal. We can find the sculpture of a big lion, elephant and Nandi. We can also see some dhoms near the rathas. Also I found that in each and every pillar there will be a sculpture of lion or elephant. The five rathas has its own story. If we move toward east we can find a rock temple which is known as malla kovil. We have to climb up the rock to reach the temple it’s a shivan temple its closed due to some reason from here we can see the beautifully view of this place. Near to this temple a light house can be seen we can also see the sea shore temple from this temple the beauty full sea shore and it’s surrounding. If we walk towards the light house we can find a four pillars were a small temple is been work shipped each pillar is been sculpture with the lion face also a huge big rock can be seen. If we moved towards the sea shore means we can find the sea shore temple which is very famous. This temple has its own beauty were it is been placed near the sea shore this temple has lord Shiva and Vishnu’s sculpture. The Shiva sculpture is totally damaged so it is been closed and the pillars has some small sculpture on it. The temple is so beauty full and this place is very peace full. Each temple and sculpture is representing the ancient history of the Pallava. It was nice experiences for me during my visit
